The File or directory is corrupted and unreadable
Hello, I have just imported a backup into Veeam and I can do a successful file restore. BUT if I try and do an exchange restore (got to restore an old email for an annoying user) then I get The File or directory is corrupted and unreadable. Can you not import a file then do an exchange restore or I am just unlucky?
Thank you..............
Thank you..............

Rob, you should be able to perform Exchange item-level recovery from imported backup. I recommend contacting support with this. Thanks.

What happens if you restore the db manually and add it to the Veeam Explorer's scope later? Will the issue persist? Thanks.

Thanks for your reply; unfortunately the extract is taking hours so will have to try it again at the weekend as I think it will stop the backup's working tonight. Will update Monday.

Since it is an imported backup, it shouldn't be involved into any backup job. Or are you mapping some job to it?

That's what I thought but when I tried to do a separate windows restore it gave an error so I assumed the backup wont work but obviously could be wrong

What do you mean by separate restore? And what kind of error it was?

Did an extract and had no EDB file which explains the original error. The extract only shows VMDK files and vmx and one NVRAM file. Good learning curve anyway. Thanks for your help.

Mmm... seems you've performed VM files restore instead of guest OS files restore. Pleas try the latter.
