Feature Request - Backup to Tape: time window

Post by Pitagora »

hey there!

it would be really helpful, if there would be a Feature in veeam 8 patch 4 to define a time window for the backup to tape! (e.g. "8 hours" / e.g. "from 22:00 to 6:00")
many customers unfortunately forget to exchange their tapes --> a job-abort after a defined time would be the solution! otherwise a tape-job is running into Nirwana after 1 week of no tape in the drive!

You can set a continuous schedule (as new backup files appear) for a backup to tape job and specify required backup window in accordance, using Schedule button. Thanks.

we tried this at our customers, but this Feature ist - we would say "unusable"! for the fact, that tape Jobs should run e.g. from MO to FR euch night, regardless if new backup files appear or not!

is there still no way to define a time-window or an abortion-timepoint?? eg. Job starts at 22:00 (and takes normally to 4:00). when there is no tape in the drive, the Job should automatically be aborted at 10:00 / after x hours / someting like that...??

in many other backup Solutions this can be configured!
