Keep a specifik retention backup

Post by kla »

Hi

Here is my use case.

Let us say that I have a backupjob with a 14 days retention.
We then have a client that needs some files restored. Everything goes well, and the items are restored.

Then the customer returns back after 16 days, and finds out that they need some more files, but now the retention policy has deleted the backup we needed to restore from.

Is there somehow we can keep a specific backup for a longer time than the 14 days? Like making a copy of the full backup and up to the retention we might need to restore from? Or is there any smart way to do this?

It isn't something we do on a regular basis, but sometimes it would be nice to do.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

If I correctly understood you it seems that a Backup Copy job with GFS retention is what you need.

Thank you.
