Re: v9 - Failed to get media info
If there is no option in UI installer its worth unpacking the setup with WinZip or WinRAR – in 99% cases ( base on my experience of course) nonexclusive version is inside

Yes, install the non_exclusive.exe drivers and problem solved! (tested using IBM 3573)

[MERGED] V9 Errors writing to Tape - Dell Tl4000
Case: 01712631
Since upgrading to V9 - we are unable to write to tape backup - first tape works, once it asks for second tape we get the same error.
I have been through the first level and second level - can you check security, can you check services, can you check firmware..
Jumped through the hoops and done all they ask - and no surprise made absolutely no difference.
I have seen articles on Spiceworks with people having the same errors - and reported this back - silence.
Tape1' Access is denied. Problem with CreateFile in '\\.\Tape1' --tr:Error code: 0x00000005

Richard,
Extract the driver’s installation package you got and use the non-exclusive version. That should help.

Re: v9 - Failed to get media info
I was using the non-exclusive drivers already with Veeam 8 - and still am with V9.
Support had me do the normal - firmware on drives / robot etc plus check the security / accounts on services - again NOTHING has changed since V8...
So back to next level support now apparently..
Losing confidence

Richard,
Thanks for the heads up. I do see your case has been escalated to the highest level of support and believe me you are know it good hands. Let’s await for the Denis B. investigation results.

Re: v9 - Failed to get media info
Hello all.
We're suffering with the same issue using V9 - I recollect using the non-exclusive command string within BUE several years ago.
Can someone (perhaps from Veeam) elaborate on exactly how to install the driver version in this mode - should this be a command instruction from the Tape Vendor (IBM / HP etc)?
Please advise.

Re: v9 - Failed to get media info
Hi guys, how are you?
We are trying the Veeam V9, and we have migrate from V8 to V9 few days ago. The V8 is working correctly. We noticed in the V9 that the Full Backup tape jobs are with bellow issues:
Incremental backups are working ok
My Case on the veeam support is: #01737622
Thantks a lot!!!

Re: v9 - Failed to get media info
I run on the same issue. I downloaded from Dell TL2000TL4000_A13_ZPE.exe which is version 6.2.5.5. After updating the drivers in Device manager the tape drives show as IBM ULTRIUM 6 HH 3580 instead of 3573 that is what is shown in the tape library itself.jeremy.porter wrote:Hi as per my earlier post at the top of this page I'm reporting back my progress.
The update the 'IBM' drivers for the Dell TL2000 library to NonExclusive mode have worked for me, 6TB of small jobs were successful and starting all the bigger ones now.
Can anyone confirm this is correct? Did I do something wrong?
Thank you in advance

Re: v9 - Failed to get media info
When you download the driver for the IBM tape drive you should see an install_readme.txt file. In the file you will see a note:
To install the Windows Server IBMTape Device Drivers:
Double click on install_exclusive.exe or install_nonexclusive.exe to start the
drivers installation or use the command line options as follows:
install_exclusive [-c|-t] [-d] [-s] [-h] [-r]
or
install_nonexclusive [-c|-t] [-d] [-s] [-h] [-r]
c = install only the changer drivers
t = install only the tape drivers
d = output debug information to debug.txt
s = silent mode (suppress IBM driver pop-ups)
r = disable the RSM service
f = disable DPF
p = use persistent reserve if DPF disabled
m = disable media polling
a = disable WRAttributes
h = print usage information
