Hi,
we want to migrate a veeam backup server from server A to B. When installing on server B, and keep using server A for repository purposes : Is it safe to uninstall Veeam from server A without losing the repository in the Veeam server B configuration ?
thanks !

Re: backup server migration
The better choice would be to uninstall VB&R from server A first and then add it as a backup repository to server B. Otherwise, components running on server A would be removed during uninstall procedure, and you'd need to install them anew from server B. Thanks.

Re: backup server migration
Hi,
For a green field installation this is acceptable. However when you aim a phased migration this would be an issue (e.g. first migrate backup/copy jobs, second phase all replication jobs);
We now planning to use this "old Veeam server" as a cold standby Veeam server. When the new production server fails we can direct restore the backup config that is located on the "old" server.
Thanks !

Re: backup server migration
Even with cold standby Veeam sever, all the components should be re-scanned/managed by your new server, as there might be some issues when both servers are online at the same time and are trying to manage the same components (backup repository in your case). Exporting and importing backup infrastructure should be the quickest way to migrate all the data.
