Backup Copy of past backups
Hi,
We are taking een backup copy every day.
Now last week the merge took a couple of days (weekly, quarterly and yearly retention)
Because of this we did not have a backup copy of last week backups...
Is there i way to still do a backup copy of those backups because we would like to be able restore
files op the last 31 (using backup copy) days but now there is a gap...(backups jobs are only kept 7 days).
regards,
Bart

Re: Backup Copy of past backups
Hi Bart,
What backup method do you use?
If it`s not reverse incremental, you may try to hide the newly created increments you don`t need in GFS(use remove from configuration), then change the GFS schedule and run the backup copy job.
Don`t forget to rescan those hidden increments before running the backup job again.
Thanks!

Incremental with full in weekend.
I will try it....
Would it not make a nice feature that you can select a specific restore point for use with Backup Copy ?

Because it`s a rare case.bleyers wrote:Would it not make a nice feature that you can select a specific restore point for use with Backup Copy ?
Don`t remove if you need them.bleyers wrote:How do i remove increments ?
Small specification: "Remove from Inventory" / "Delete from Disk" applied to the whole chain deletion.
To delete custom restore points you need:
1. Delete the .vibs manually in the file system. (Copy them somewhere if you need those files back in future.)
2. Perform a rescan
3. Remove greyed-out restore point from UI.
Contact technical support for assistance if needed.
Thanks!

Re: Backup Copy of past backups
I got the restore points removed but backup copy would not start because no up to date restore points found.
I even had to restore the config backup to get all the restore points in veeam again

Re: Backup Copy of past backups
Do you already have a GFS restore point run recently?
If so try to remove it from configuration just like you did with the increments.
Now I strongly recommend to contact the support team not to spoil existing backups.
