CSV System volume information size growing

Post by jamie2497 »

Hi All,

One of our clients has been having a problem for ages where randomly once in a while their System Volume Information will continuously fill up with Volume shadow copies on one of their CSV's, it is as if the shadow copy files aren't being deleted but it doesn't happen straight away, it will take a few weeks for it to move from its standard 16mb size.

The only way to clear the files is to move that specific CSV role over to another host, this then empties the folder.

I've got a support call logged under 01752580 but so far the support guys are having no luck.

Many thanks

Jamie

Volume snapshots created by Veeam B&R are automatically removed after all backup activity is performed, so most likely those shadow copies belong to some other software. You should continue looking into this with support.

I hit this same issue! Except I opened a case with Microsoft not Veeam. They recommended I install this hotfix: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3060678 and also review the settings you can set from this KB article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2935810

I have since replaced that hotfix with an update that was released more recently https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3140250

There are also a couple of other updates that were released in the last month you may want to look at:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3137728
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3130944

So far I haven't had the issue come back, although it hasn't been that long yet for me to be sure.
