Backup Copy repository is now full with just 0 bytes free

Post by albertwt »

Case # 01752448,

Hi All,

The physical server where it is used as the Backup Copy repository is now full with just 0 bytes free.
How do I safely delete the file to resume the backup copy job again ?

Thanks.

Hi Albert,
Do you want delete a particular file or the whole chain?
By the way, do you use Veeam ONE? There is an alarm to be notified when the repository is getting full.
Thanks!

I'm wondering whether you're using simple retention or GFS one, instead. Thanks.

Hi All,

I'm using the Simple One no GFS.
I just need to delete a particular chain not the whole lot.

If GFS retention isn't used, there should be only one forever incremental chain created by backup copy job. Or did you run active full manually? Thanks.

Hi Vladimir, No I'm trying to avoid running Active Full again due to the time it takes for completing the backup job.

Hi All,

Does the "Defragment and Compact Full Backup" file can reduce the disk space usage on the Backup Repository folder ?

Yes, however it requires additional space to be performed.

Hi Alex, thanks for the reply.

It seems that I'm in catch 22 situation. Anyway, I'll manually delete the .VIb files and then allow the Backup Copy to continue as normal from today.

Thanks.

That will not work, the job will fail if you just delete part of the chain. You either should delete the entire chain and trigger active full manually or add space to repository.
