exclude all proxies from all backup jobs

Post by larry »

Any way to exclude all proxies from all backup jobs in Veeam 9?
What is happening is I have a data store backup job running and for some external reason it does not finish at the normal time. A different Veeam server starts a job which is backing up the same data store from a snap mirror. This new jobs sees the proxy from the first job has a (hotadd) disk on the data store so the new job attempts to back up the proxy. It takes a snapshot of the proxy then has an error about cant use SAN snapshot for the VM( proxy). Now the first job finishes but cant remove the hot add disks from the proxy because of the Veeam snapshot. Now two VMs (proxy and real VM) have the same vdks open and things turn bad. I can manually remove the Veeam snapshot from the proxy, edit VM of proxy to remove disks, sometimes it wants a consolidate of snap shots on one or both VMs which works some times.

Right now I am excluding all proxies from backup jobs but this is time consuming and doesn’t help when a proxy is added or proxy VM ID changes for some reason.
