Feature request - Disable size warnings for certain disks
My laptop has a recovery partition which is about 95% full but not actively used. Since I do a backup my entire laptop, I get a warning this disk is almost out of free space and the system tray icon shows the same warning. An option to disable this warning for this partition would be nice. That way I will notice warnings that are really important.

Yes, try to apply the registry key from this post > Message "Disk Recovery is running low on free space"

Thank you Vitaliy
Reg Key works:
1. Go to 'HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Endpoint Backup
2. Create the following registry entry:
Type: DWORD
Name: DisableVolumeFreeSpaceCheckWarning
Value: 1
3. Restart the Veeam Endpoint Backup service.

Re: Feature request - Disable size warnings for certain disk
YES! .. this is an essential feature/config setting. Many PC's come with a nearly full factory restore partition.
There should be an check box option in the VEB Settings to [ ] DisableVolumeFreeSpaceCheckWarning
Ideally, it would list local volumes and allow selecting which volumes DisableVolumeFreeSpaceCheckWarning should apply to.
Users have been commenting that the free space Warning is annoying. The registry hack is satisfactory (for now) to get VEB to report 'successful backup'.

While I agree that this warning might be annoying, I completely disagree that it’s useless. If you volume has no free space – you may end up without successful backups (snapshot creation may simply fail).Users have been commenting that the free space Warning is annoying.

Re: Feature request - Disable size warnings for certain disk
The size warning is quite helpful, but just not for factory recovery volumes that are by design nearly always full and unlikely to change.
There was a suggestion from Veeam support (case 01734402) to remove the drive letter associated with the factory recovery volume, but that doesn't work. We get size warnings whether a drive letter is assigned or not. Something like this would work well for our customer base...

Bernard,
Thanks a lot - we will discuss your idea with the team. Meanwhile, can you clarify what volumes generated this warning after mount point was deleted?

I would like to add my vote to this request...having the capability through the UI to disable the warning for recovery partitions would be a huge benefit.

Re: Feature request - Disable size warnings for certain disk
Actually after my last post and re-reading this thread, I'm not sure I completely understand how this is supposed to work...
A couple of posts up, Dima asked, "what volumes generated this warning after mount point was deleted?"
Is this low-space warning only supposed to be issued for partitions that are associated with a drive letter? And if so, is there a way to delete the drive letter (while preserving the underlying partition) to prevent the warning from occurring?

Luke,
VEB automatically excludes unmounted partitions from ‘free disk space check’ in the backup job, assuming they are OEM, Recovery etc. If such volume has a mount point (i.e. drive letter assigned), you will get a warning notification.

Check MS KB Assign, change, or remove a drive letter. Please,, keep in mind the warning belowAnd if so, is there a way to delete the drive letter (while preserving the underlying partition) to prevent the warning from occurring?
Be careful when making drive-letter assignments because many MS-DOS and Windows programs make references to a specific drive letter. For example, the path environment variable shows specific drive letters in conjunction with program names.

"... can you clarify what volumes generated this warning after mount point was deleted?"
In Win7Pro, used Computer, Manage, Disk, Change Drive Letter, Remove to remove the assigned drive letter (typically Q:) for the HP or Lenovo recovery partition.
VEB still reports size warning for each backup run. "Disk Lenovo_Recovery is running low on free space" or "Disk HP_RECOVERY is running low on free space".

Dima, will the notification go away on the next major version of B&R or on the next major version of VEB?
And any ballpark idea on when the next major version will be out?
Thanks!

As per my support call (02500898) it would seem that this issue is again present in Veeam Agent for Windows 2.1.0.423 (previously Veeam Endpoint Backup) or was never resolved.
