Office 365 and notification experience

Post by lowlander »

Hi all,

we use office 365 to send out e-mail notifications with Veeam. However the jobs are successfull every day, it sometimes misses the e-mail notification.

Is this a known issue / experienced by more users ?

thanks !

It is not a known issue, so I recommend contacting support with the particular case of missed notification.

Hi lowlander,

We successfully use Office 365 for sending VBR emails via SMTP.
Several emails a day are always sent and received on the minute as expected.
Our SMTP server is set to smtp.office365.com, port 587, SSL Yes and default timeout of 100000 ms.

It could either be a problem in your location sending to smtp.office365.com (we are UK/IRL) or perhaps your firewall is only allowing certain IPs to port 587?

Thanks
Andy Barnes

I've seen this periodically with different pieces of software and office 365, as a work around you can install the SMTP Service on the local machine and have VEEAM target that then configure SMTP for Office365 mail relay. That way the mail gets queued and even on a connection failure it can try to resend. The instructions from Microsoft on how to do it can be found here https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/lib ... 50%29.aspx
