Copy Backup Job

Post by andreas2012 »

Hi,

I need some explanation when it comes to "backup copy job". What I would like is for me to have 1 weekly backup, 1 monthly and 1 yearly, so It would be after one 1 like this..

yearly : 1
monthly: 12
weekly: 1 (allways 1 week, i dont want 52 weeks...)

I have configured a "backup copy job" but this job take backup every day like the regular backup job, so it does keep many incremental backup sets. I guess there is some simple this I need to configure, but now sure how since I have trouble see the whole consepts... please advice :)

This is how it is configuered now...

Copy every 1 day (should this be like once a week?)
Restoe points to keep: 7
Weekly;: 1
monthly: 1
quarterly: 0
yearly:1

If I check the restore, I can see that I have 10 restore points, like 6 incremental and 4 Full...

incremental 1 day ago
incremental 2 day ago
incremental 3 day ago
incremental 4 day ago
incremental 5 day ago
full 6 days ago
full 7 days ago
full 21 days ago
full 28 days ago

Thanks for reply
Andreas

Andreas, if you do not need any restore points in the regular chain, you could set the retention to the minimum of 2 restore points or change the copy interval to 7 days (so that you have weekly points as incremental restore points (VIB files) and other GFS restore points as full ones (VBK)).
