Any experiences with a share at W2012 R2 with dedup?

Hello,

has anyone experiences with a share at W2012 R2 with dedup as target for VEB-Full-Backups?

A customer needs monthly fullbackups for 12 month from 10 W7-Clients.

Per Windows-Task-Sheduler we shedule:

1. Daily with incrementals (foerverforward -14 day retention) -> Target is a share at HDD "A" on a Windows 2012 R2 Server
2. Monthly Standalone Backup -> Target is a share at HDD "B" on a Windows 2012 R2 Server

Now we are runnig out of free space on HDD "B". So I think about turning on Microsoft's dedup only for HDD "B". Here a only Fullbackups placed, so there is no merging-process or anything else like this.

Are there any know issues with Microsoft's Dedup for Fullbackups with VEB?

Hi Dima,

thanks for the quick reply. But it seems the threat you reffered is about backingup a deduped drive. I will use it as a taregt for the standalone backups. Is this also possible?
