Error: Failed to create snapshot: Backup job failed

Hi Dmitry,

An error message shows up when we get ready to backup all my local file. It says "6/2/2016 4:36:30 PM :: Error: Failed to create snapshot: Backup job failed. Cannot create a shadow copy of the volumes containing writer's data. A VSS critical writer has failed. Writer name: [SqlServerWriter]. Class ID: [{a65faa63-5ea8-4ebc-9dbd-a0c4db26912a}]. Instance ID: [{2b32fd7b-ef02-4ca3-907d-b7f3e873effc}]. Writer's state: [VSS_WS_FAILED_AT_FREEZE]. Error code: [0x800423f2]."

Issues like this should be investigated by support team, kindly, open a support case via VEB UI.

Hello Dmitry,

I tried to open a support case via VEB UI, but it says "the email address is not registered". But I did use this email address to register the forum and receive Veeam news.

So I turn to here for help.

Hi Dmitry,

No.I using the same email address as I register the forum. But still says the email address is not registered. I tried to use several email address to create a support case but still failed.

Then, Did QA Team come to a conclusion about this issue ?

I have EPB setup on my work laptop and target a B&R repository. I do daily backups and keep 15 days of incrementals. However I have a StarTech SATA disk dock connected to the eSATA port of the laptops docking station and I have have an external USB 3.0 WD 2TB drive that I use occasionally for bulk storage. The StarTech dock is used for testing or duplicating SATA drives. Anyway if the 2TB USB hard drive or the disk dock has a hard drive online I get the same snapshot error, so I have learned to not have them online at 9am when my daily runs.

Nathan,

Your support account is not linked with the forum account (these are two independent platforms). To open a support case you need to fill the case form in the VEB UI, click the link Register near your email address (it appears only once, when your email is not confirmed). Then you will receive a confirmation link via email, click it and you are welcome to submit a case.
