VeeamONE 9 upgrade - database has unsupported ESXi

Post by rakhesh »

(I thought I had posted this already but I cannot find it. Sorry if this turns out to be a double post).

I am trying to upgrade from Veeam ONE 8.0 to 9.0 but it fails with a message that the database contains unsupported ESXi hosts and that only ESXi 4.1 and above are supported.

Our environment does contain ESXI 4.0 hosts but I have excluded these (and the cluster they are in) from Veeam ONE 8.0. I don't want to monitor these so is there any way I can work around this message and upgrade to 9.0? I would prefer not creating a fresh database if that's an option.

Thanks,
Rakhesh

Hello Rakhesh,
Indeed ESXi 4.1 is not supported in Veeam ONE v9,
Are they excluded from monitoring in version 8, means not shown in the infrastructure tree? If yes, upgrade should go fine without creation of new database.
Thanks!

Hi,

They appear in the infrastructure tree but I went to the options menu and excluded them from monitoring. So they still appear in the tree but are grayed out. I remove them from the tree altogether if you tell me how. :)

Thanks.

Hi,
[EDITED]You need to remove outdated server from Veeam ONE monitor(right-click on the object and choose "Remove Server") to be able to perform upgrading.
By the way, is that host a part of cluster?
Thanks!

On a side note, is there any reason to still keep ESXi 4.0 as part of the production infrastructure?
