Slow Backup on w2k virtual machines

Post by NTFS »

I got a new Problem. I have a Backup job with 5 VM
2 x 2008 Server (average speed ca. 300 - 400MB/s)
2 x 2003 Server (average speed ca. 180 - 250MB/s)
1 2000 Server (average speed ca. 8 - 15MB/s)

it couldn't be a problem from the Hardware, cause the VM are running on the same Blade and they got all the same SAN.

Is there a solution?
Thanks Tobi

Actually, processing rates may differ heavily from one VM to another, this is an expected behavior.
Please tell which modes are you using for each job listed above? I guess first two are incremental runs, and the third one is a 'full backup'.

Are you using 'SAN mode' or 'SAN with failover'? In the second case, a failover to network may have happened, which caused a loss of speed.

If you want to dig into details, please contact our support directly and provide all the logs. Thanks!

You are right with the failover. Is will test it with SAN only.
Where can u configure Incremental and full backup mode in Veeam?

This is one job where i backup 5 Virtual machines not 5 jobs for 5 machines.
So there i thougt it must be the same configuration of backup for all the VM or not?!

Thanks

Though you have same configuration to backup your VMs, Alexey has correctly admitted that it is expected to have different processing rates for different VMs depending on the amount of white space in VMDK etc. You may provide our technical team with you job log files for further investigation.
