Backup of a resource pool
Hi Guys,
I don’t know if this can be considered an issue but I want to share it here.
I setup some backups choosing to backup resource pools.
One of these resource pools contains five VMs.
The backup job ends 100% successfully after processing only two VMs.
No issue for me, as I know the reason: the other three have SCSI controller engaged in bus-sharing and I already have those on Endpoint.
But what if didn’t know about it? Shouldn’t I get at least a warning?
It totally ignores three VMs without any mention in logs.

Re: Backup of a resource pool
Hi Constantin,
Do you see any warning messages that are in the session log for this job?
Thanks!

Hi Vitaliy,
The Veeam console is clean.
If I look at logs in programdata at the job.x.backup I see the warning present.
But usually you check those logs only when you see warning and errors in console.
Cheers.

If you select a particular job and double click on it, you won't see any information messages regarding specific VMs being skipped from processing, right? Thanks.

Re: Backup of a resource pool
I believe the behavior you're referring to was discussed in this pretty long thread > Backup of independent disks. There are still debates on whether throw a warning message to the job result or not for unsupported VM disks.
If you would like to see what VMs cannot be processed, VMs configuration assessment report from Veeam ONE (also discussed in the linked topic) should be helpful.
