Veeam Replication vs Azure Site Recovery (ASR)

Post by lando_uk »

Hi

Is there a white paper or any info comparing these two solutions?

I know they are fundamentally different in the way they work, but they are both targeting the same customer base so I'm interested in Veeams take on ASR.

Thanks.

Based on my understanding ASR addresses only replication needs and does that using just one target (Azure cloud).

So, honestly, I don't think you can really make a comparison between availability solution and DR-only one.

Thanks.

What about if you currently own Veeam and well as have a presence in the Azure cloud? What would Veeam give me versus ASR and vice versa? We are a Veeam customer and are doing a POC of ASR for DR to the cloud. ASR uses CNT and is agent based and does not rely on VMware snaps, which is pretty interesting.

I am currently doing research into Azure and this company is using Veeam.
What were your findings Daveyd?
