Hello,
is it possible to disable the Feature "Application-Aware Image Processing" in Veeam Endpoint Backup?
I have a problem with Backup of a physical Server (Win 2012R2 with MS SQL 2014 Standard) to our B&R 9 Repository.
Code: Select all
Creating VSS snapshot Error:
Failed to create snapshot: Backup job failed. Cannot create a shadow copy of the volumes containing writer's data.
A VSS critical writer has failed. Writer name: [SqlServerWriter]. Class ID: [{a65faa63-5ea8-4ebc-9dbd-a0c4db26912a}].
Instance ID: [{0ec6a41c-e8a6-4e14-b392-badf18bb5678}]. Writer's state: [VSS_WS_FAILED_AT_PREPARE_SNAPSHOT]. Error code: [0x800423f4].
Or can anybody help with this failure?
Thanks.
Martin

VSS snapshot is required by the backup job, you cannot disable it. I would start your investigation with reviewing Windows Application Event log, search for VSS related errors. Additionally, check VSS writers/providers health state. BTW, if you need an assistance from our support team, then feel free to contact them directly.

I read about VSS timeout problems. Perhaps Veeam Endpoint doesn´t wait long enough for snapshot?

VSS is controlled solely by the guest OS, so in order to make it work the corresponding VSS writer needs to be fixed.
