VBR & VEB centralized management

Post by backup.master »

Hello,

I know that Veeam has centralized management for MSPs with LabTech for VBR & VEB:
https://www.veeam.com/blog/centralized- ... btech.html

However, since my customers are not MSPs, I was wondering if there is a way for them, in a single pane of glass to control their VBR & VEB backups?

Thanks in advance,
Ron.

Hi Ron,

Currently, you can only point your VEB jobs to the backup repository and see some stats in the backup console. Can you please clarify your statement that "your customers are not MSPs"? Are you a reseller or a service provider?

Thanks!

I'm an integrator and a Veeam partner. I support and maintain Veeam and other backup products.
My customers use both VBR & VEB since not all of their environment is virtual.
They keep complaining about having to use two consoles for their backups.
They would very much like to use a single management GUI and are willing to pay for it.

Thanks for your clarification. Do you possibly know any numbers on how many VEBs are deployed per each client? Are we talking about hundreds of installations or less?

The number varies from company to another. They usually backup their physical DC (which is left out of the virtual environment) and 2-9 more servers which can't be virtualized but must be backed up.

Thanks for clarification. Yes, we see this scenario popping up from time to time, your FR is noted.

I'd like to add that my own company would benefit from the ability to manage Endpoint settings from B&R as well. We have 37 Endpoint clients (workstations) and the inability to configure or monitor job status on them from B&R is a bit of a pain.

We would also like this, because we have the same scenario: most servers are virtual, but there are still several physical systems (<10) which have to be backed up with VEB.

One central management console would be great.

Also some restrictions are annoying: Restoring of Windows guest files is not possible on systems backed up with VEB. The "Restore"-entry is grayed out. It is just possible to copy those files, but this will result in loosing Information like Windows ACL, etc.

Thanks for the feedback, guys! Yes, currently there are some limitations in terms of this integration, so thanks for pointing this out.

Is there any news on this? When can the full endpoint integration be expected?

Unfortunately, we do not comment on the ETAs for feature request, but I can assure you that this is our top priority feature.

I am looking to restore VEB client files via VBR console to the original VEB host. VBR keeps historical logs but VEB does not. We need audit logs of backup and restored data on physical end points. VEB lacks logging of restoring files.
Our manufacturing requirements mandate we keep records of change to a controlled computing environments and it's data.

Do you need something similar like we have in Veeam ONE for Veeam B&R reporting? We have a bunch of predefined reports for auditing and compliance requirements > Veeam Backup Assessment, Veeam Backup Monitoring and Veeam Backup Overview (these just a few report pack examples that we have).
