Feature Request: Oracle FLRmount as hot add disk to VM

Post by JRS »

This is regarding an existing Veeam Support - Case # 01845838 - Restore of Oracle to point in time with option Perform restore to the specific transaction

Restore of Oracle to point in time with option "Perform restore to the specific transaction" stops on verification of the target server and gives error "Not enough free space".
In the logging we are noticing that Veeam is trying to put the database (and redo logs?) to the C drive?! This is not wanted as in our case we would have to reserve a minimum of an additional 144,39 GB on our c drive?!
Is this setting adjustable because in a DB environment this is not prefered as the C drive is for the OS and is as small as possible.
Is there any other way to resolve this?
  • By implementing the option to select the drive on the remote vm where the "FLRMountFolder" and the oracle restore files should be placed during restore itself?
  • Or by implementing these restore setting for each machine already in the backup job definitions for each vm seperatly. You could implement the selection of the drive where FLRMount folder should be option in the "guest processing > tab Oracle" for example.
  • Or even better by implementing the procedure to hot add a disk to the vm instead of using the C drive when restoring?
Below is a part of the logging during the restore action.
Thanks in advance.

Code: Select all

I have a similar issue with Linux. I'd like to be able to have the restore place the files somewhere other than "/tmp". There is a KB article about overriding this location for log files during backup, but that solution did not work for restore.
