Uniform recovery media
Hi mates,
I use also Veeam Endpoint backup for my Windows computers, it would be great to have a single recovery media (I have on a USB stick) to recover also Linux endpoints.
Should this be possible?
Thanks a lot!
Andrea

Re: Uniform recovery media
We currently offer a 64bit recovery media which can restore a computer from any backup. Is there something missing in this which you would like to see?

Re: Uniform recovery media
Also, could you explain what would be the benefit for you to have two operating systems in the same boot media?

Re: Uniform recovery media
So you mean I can use the recovery media created with Veeam Endpoint backup for Windows for recovery any .vbk backup (both Windows and/or Linux)?vmniels wrote:We currently offer a 64bit recovery media which can restore a computer from any backup. Re: Uniform recovery media
No, the one you create for Windows with VEB will only work for Windows. However in the beta in the x64 folder you'll find "veeam-recovery-media-1.0.0.499.iso" which allows you to do a full server recovery based on a Linux vbk backup file.

Re: Uniform recovery media
Niels I think you are missing what Andrea is asking. He's aware of the two iso, he'd like to have a common iso able to restore both Windows and Linux...

Re: Uniform recovery media
I don't have any case. It was a simple question.
I use massively veeam endpoint backup for Windows for my company endpoint computers and save their backup on a shared folder.
I would like to do the same for Linux, and in case, use a single recovery media for both. Nothing more.
Please close the ticket if you feel irritate by this.
thank you

Re: Uniform recovery media
Andrea,
Each and every feature that makes its way to the GA version is supported by use cases. Even though it sounds good to have an uniform media for all operating systems the creation of such media will require us to spend a lot of time for development and testing in order to make sure that current users' experience will get better. In other words there should be some serious reasons to start such investments, that's why we are asking you and other users on this forum about your use cases, so please don't take it as an irritation.
Thanks!
