OS Disk in Backup uses GPT Disk. This may cause boot issues.
Hello,
I'm trying to backup a physical server and restore the image to a VM. The server contains RADI-1+0 and OS is 270 GP. 30 GB is used, I have created a boot image of it.
Built a VM and mounted the .iso image created by VeeamEndPoint. Selected Beral-Metal recovery and configured the Ethernet with IP to access the share where the backup image is located..
When I select the backup restore point, I'm presented with an error (OS disk in Backup uses GPT Disk. This may cause boot issues on BIOS Systems) If I click on OK and Select Entire Computer restore, I'm presented with another error (Unable to auto-match disk, please manual restore mode).
Select Manual Restores (Advanced) I'm presented with different error (Cannot find original disk layout, Do you want to partition this disk manually?) but that doesn't take me anywhere.. even when I delete everything and shrink the disk to match the used space in the original disk, it doesn't boot.
Any thoughts..?

Re: OS Disk in Backup uses GPT Disk. This may cause boot iss
Hi Hussain,
Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the errors you see above (probably it's better review these messages with our support team), but can you please tell me if you've tried exporting these disks to VMDK/VHDX and then trying to boot the VM? Do you see the same error messages?
Thanks!

The mentioned error shows that you are trying to restore a UEFI machine’s backup into BIOS VM. Try to change the VMs boot options to EFI (for VMWare its in VMs properties Options > Boot options) and let me know if that works.

Hi Dima
Changing the Boot option to EFI allowed the machine to boot successfully.
Much appreciated.

What is the solution if you have the same issue but are trying to restore to a physical machine?

Hi Scott,
It's the same: open the BIOS settings on your machine and make sure that boot options is set to EFI. Cheers!
