Licensing for Education and limitations

Hi,

We are trying to source Veeam Backup Essentials for a new institute under a .edu domain and we are being told: "As per Veeam, the customer here already consumed these 6 sockets in other branches in France, UK & Australia using same domain".
All our institutes use the same domain but are located in different countries.
Also some of the listed institute do own a license but are no longer under active contract with Veeam.

I don't know who I could talk to to discuss this issue as we may have to look for alternatives in order to meet the budget which would be a shame as we are trying to standardize our process across the world.
Veeam would be the first vendor to apply such limitation.

You need to discuss it with Veeam sales representative directly and it is absolutely possible to buy Essential bundles for standalone sites (different geographical locations).

Well Vitaly, this is most definitely not so (otherwise large enterprises with multiple ROBO would not buy anything but tons of Essentials)

Julien, you should discuss this with your Veeam sales rep as people behind this forum are from R&D and we know little about sales rules. But from what I know, you are indeed not eligible unless you can prove you are running totally separate company regardless of sharing the domain name.

This is not entirely fair to say, as we do not apply such limitation to our standard product. However, you are talking about Veeam Essentials, which is a heavily discounted package designed specifically for the smallest companies. As such, buying it multiple times for the same company goes against the spirit of this offering.

It sounds like you are from a large global company so if you are indeed looking to standardize on Veeam, you should do a global deal for your entire company called ELA (Enterprise License Agreement). This way, you can get the price down significantly, effectively getting close to the Essentials pricing (depending on the volume).
