Failed to finalize guest processing. Error: Cannot copy file

Post by daryl.hill »

Support ID: 00678256

I am getting the following error when trying to backup 2x 2012 R2 VMs;

Code: Select all

Failed to finalize guest processing. Error: Cannot copy file. Source file: [\\*.*.*.*\ADMIN$\VeeamVssSupport\metadata\VSS\BackupComponents.xml]. Target file: [C:\Windows\TEMP\81aa0f7f-1035-48e7-adea-c2715ce72ec0\BackupComponents.xml].
CopyFile() failed. Win32 error:The system cannot find the file specified. Code: 2
I have several other 2012 R2 VM's within the backup job, and they are backing up fine. The two servers that are failing, if it matters at all, are both running System Center Operations Manager 2012 R2 in a cluster setup.

Settings wise I am using;

Backup Proxy : On-host backup
Backup mode: Incremental (Create synthetic full backups periodically is unticked)
Enable application-aware processing with Transaction logs set to Copy only
Correct credentials are being used
Guest interaction proxy: Is set to the Veeam Backup and Replication server

Daryl, it seems like your case ID is incorrect (dated by 2014 year), please update this topic with a proper ID. Thanks!

By case ID do you mean our Support ID? If so, the Support ID I have supplied is the one found in our License Information.

Not your company support ID, but ID of the case you've opened with Veeam technical support regarding this issue.

This is my first time venturing into the need for support regarding Veeam, so forgive me for my naivety, but why would someone log a fault call with Veeam and then post the same problem on the online forum? I was, rightly or wrongly, under the impression that this was a community forum wherein end users helped support each other where possible.

Daryl, for a number of reasons, we always require that support case ID is included when one posts about a technical issue. Please review the forum rules (provided when you click New Topic) for more information.

You can open a support case in less than a minute at our Customer Support Portal. Thanks for understanding.
