Can you change the warning about low free space?

Post by homerjnick »

My repository is 13TB and has 1.5TB left yet first line support are reporting warnings in the backup emails each day and the warning is that the repository is getting low on free space.

Can I change the threshold of this so the backup emails do not have the warning in them?

Nick,
Yes you can set your own value.
Thanks!

Doh...I was looking in the Repository settings but Options > Notifications does the trick.

Thank you.

EDIT...actually that is set correctly...on reflection it is the Endpoint backups that produce the warning and not VM backup's...must be an Endpoint setting somewhere...can't see one...will post in Endpoint forum.

You are right, Backup Server does that verification during backup job run.
Veeam Endpoint also notifies you when you are low on disk space.
I would rather use Veeam ONE which is a monitoring tool to get more options on this and other situations.

Ok but my point is my VM backups do not trigger the warning email because my threshold is not breached yet my Endpoint backups are triggering a warning on free space even though my free space is well above the threshold set.

Yeah, that sounds logically.
Both VBR and Endpoint check repository space only when they are performing backup. If you want full backup infrastructure monitoring and alerting, you need to use Veeam ONE.

It's ok, but what can I do if I have a 2TB repository and a 20TB one? or one with small deltas machines and one with huge deltas?
thanks

Could you elaborate on your question? You mean universal percentage value might not work, if repositories differ dramatically from one another in terms of capacity. Thanks.

Exactly. It's not useful when you have different capacities, nor when you have different types of backup on repositories of same capacity.
I.E.: I need different warnings if I'm making full backups or incrementals.

Alessio, not sure if it helps or not, but you can set individual thresholds for backup repositories in Veeam ONE. It seems like it should address your use case.
