Is Veeam for Linux free ?

Post by vpillai »

Hello Support,

While trying Veeam Agent for Linux, it is showing a trial period of 36 days. Please advise whether we need a separate license for Linux agent too. Please advise.

Thank you.

Kind Regards,

Currently it is a beta you can try. You can leave feedback here. Later this year the product will be released and the licensing will become more clear.

Yes, there will be a free version available (just like the one we already have for Windows).

Dear Support,

Thank you for your reply. We at Masdar Institute already have a licensed windows version of Veeam. Could you please let me know if license for Linux Veeam also can be integrated with our windows license ?

Can we apply our production license to this BETA agent also? Or is there any different license \ BETA key required?

Our Support ID: 00639098

Thank you.

Also, If we are taking a backup now for a Linux machine, will we be able to use the same Veeam Agent even after the license expiry (after 36 days) for restoring purposes ?

Thank you.

You can't open support cases as support won't be able to help you as we are beta testing. The licensing as mentioned will become more clear to the official release. The license will probably be not the same as you use for Veeam Backup & Replication right now.

In regards to the backups being made, in general beta is ment for testing and not to be used as production software. Once the product goes GA you will most likely need to create new backups.

Only backup functions will be locked down when 36 days pass thus you will be able to restore backups that were made with Beta, however you'll not be able to restore Beta backups with a GA version.

Thanks
