External drive connected to TP-Link Archer 7

Post by k1n3t1k »

Hello,

does Veeam Endpoint Backup "see" an external drive connected to an USB port on a TP-Link Archer 7 router? The drive is currently shared via the router's admin interface as Storage Sharing - service status is "Started" and all computers on the network see it as a network drive "volume1 (\\tplinklogin.net)".

Can someone please assist?

Much appreciated,
K

Hi k1n3t1k,

I bet you should use Shared Folder destination with proper credentials. Can you try this option?

Hi Dima,

It is not listed in "My Network" - I only see the laptop's drives. I will try to enable all type of shared storage, including media server. But I doubt it will discover it.

Cheers,
K

Hello!

What about using the correct unc-path?

Something like \\tplinkloging.net\volume1 or \\ipadress\sharename

I have tried it with a AVM fritzbox and it worked, but it was verry slow, because the CPU of the router does not have enough power for it.

Greetings

Agree. To start with, check that this shared folder is visible via regular windows browser. Then you could use the same path for VEB job settings.

Thanks to both of you. What I meant by "My Network" - was referring to veeam - when you start the config, etc. The drive is currently discoverable and mapped ok through regular browser. I will try the absolute path approach.

Keep you posted,
K
