Active full backup schedule

Post by demadm »

Hi,

please can you tell me how it works.
I've got 2 Backup Jobs.
Job 1 starts everyday at 8 pm
Job 2 starts automatically after Job 1 is finish.

In booth jobs I selected "Create active full backup periodically Weekly on Friday"
So the question is. When Job 1 ends on saturday will Job 2 create a full backup?

Question 2:
If 1 select in Job 2 full backup on friday and saturday. How many full backups will job 2 perform if job 1 finished on friday?

Hope you understand my issue.

best wishes

Hi Alexander,

1. No.
2. Two full backups.

This is exactly one of the reasons why jobs chaining is not generally recommended (there are other reasons as well). It is recommended to start the jobs simultaneously or with short intervals and limit the number of concurrent tasks on the proxy/repository servers instead.

Hi foggy,

thanks for quick reply.

Add to question 2.
If I select in Job 2 full backup on friday and saturday. How many full backups will job 2 perform if job 1 finished on friday and job 1 is not scheduled on saturday?

Job 2 will perform full on Friday and will not be executed on Saturday (so just a single full).
