I tried to delete old backups from the repository. I wasn't able to do that.
"Unable to perform the operation while primary backup job or database transaction log job is running."
I disabled all Veeam jobs, restarted all Veeam services on the backup server and i did also restart the backup server itself. But unfortunately without success. I can't delete the files.
The reason i want to delete this files is that the specific backup job fails. I tested the Server 2012 R2 Deduplication feature. But it looks as there are some issues with that. So i disabled this feature and want to delete some of the VMs out of the repository.
Does anyone of you had similar issues with deleting VMs out of a repository?
If you've made sure that neither backup, nor backup copy jobs are running, then it looks like there could be some stalled sessions preventing you from deleting the VM. Our support should be able to assist you with this, most likely a SQL script clearing this error out will be required.
Thanks! It looks like that, yes. I tried it again just a minute ago, same error. Thats strange, i cannot imagine how a session can stall. There wasn't any issue until the last few days (this issue here in the post). Today i opened a support request and look forward for a solution through tech support.
While you're waiting for a reply, try to launch Veeam ONE Monitor, navigate to that repository and check out the number of active tasks running (just as another troubleshooting step).
The customer does not have Veeam ONE Monitor licensed. I'm not sure if i should install the trial version, don't want to make it more complex as it is at the moment.
