Current options to backup/restore to/from cloud.

Post by JosueM »

Good day everyone,

For what I understand Cloud Connect should be the first choice, however I would like to ask for more options (storage or dedicated VM) to backup and restore to and from the cloud. Thanks in advance.

well my understandigs could be limited , but it seems to me you can: use a cloud connect service provider, use cloud storage like google drive or use your own vm hosted on cloud services like amazon. I wonder if there are other alternatives. For what I've read on this forums cloud connect seems the recommended way.

the three options you listed are basically the three possible ways you can send a backup to "the cloud" indeed, well actually those are the ones leveraging internet connections, then there are ways to send backups off-site by using off-line media. But those are limited in the automation you can put on them, as it's hard to automated a van coming to your place daily/weekly to retrieve a tape or a usb drive...

Let me be a bit sales-y, I wrote this blog post when we launched Cloud Connect to explain why we believe this solution is better than the others:

great article, solid tech arguments will try to "sell" it to the management too. :)
