failed to consolidate veeam snapshot

Post by lucaam »

Hi,
hi had an issue on a esxi host with veeam bakup 6.5:
during veeam snasphot removal at the end of backup job, a network connectivity issues leave a vm with the backup snapshot. In vcenter center tasks
Vpshere client does not identify that snapshot, there is only a warning on vcenter that indicates vm need consolidation.
checking on veeam kb, the offedered resolution is to take a manual snapshot of the vm, then leave backup job run then remove snapshot.
This is the right way to proceed in that situation?
Thanks all,

Luca

Another good reason to stay on the latest product version. :)

Starting from version 8 we've had the technology called Snapshot Hunter that looks for orphaned backup snapshots and consolidates them automatically.

Thanks.

Additionally, you want to start using Veeam ONE to report on orphaned snapshots and snapshots that were not removed from production VMs.
