Repurposing existing SAN for backup repository

We have a 'retired' HP SAN that's not being used any more but it's still connected to vSphere, I have not yet dismounted and cleaned out the old LUNs.
It was used as vmfs storage, I would like to repurpose it...
Can anyone advise me how to make this visible to Veeam so I can backup stuff into it??
It's only 2 TB but some TBs are better than no TBs.

The simplest and recommended way would be to mount it via iSCSI to your backup server and format it with NTFS.

As Alexander said, even if I should ask you before, how is it connected now to vsphere, and how is the Veeam server (for an all-in-one deployment) or any dedicated Veeam repository deployed?

i didnt catch you question , Do you want to connect your storage(luns) to veeam server ? or just restore the data in thses LUNs ?

to make you luns visible to veeam
1-install the drivers of you FC cards
2-configure the zoning between you storage server of veeam server (WWN)
3-export to LUNs to the veeam server (depend on your storage system but in HP 3PAR you specify the LUN and Clic on export to server).
4-if you want to backup VMS from this LUNS with veeam Disable the autoamount on your veeam server (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/lib ... s.11).aspx) or you will loose the data if the disk is Initilized by Windows.
5-if you want to use this lun as repository , initiliaze it and format it .

Veeam B&R server automatically sets SAN policy to offline mode/disables automount during installation of its components.

ah okey thank you foggy for the information .in my case after installing the veeam i checked the status of automount and it's was enable .so to be sure i disabled the autoumount.
