Backing Up VM's on Tintri Storage

Post by dan.lebaron »

We are trying to backup VM's on our Tintri storage with Veeam. We have loaded the TintriHyperVServices agent, but each time a backup kicks off it never initiates the snap on our Tintri storage. I found this video that shows it working, but no ideas why Veeam doesn't kick of off the snapshot - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQEFn8KE0DU

Hello Dan,

What kind of error message do you see for the task? Any relevant information in the Tintri storage log?

Thanks!

No error, Veeam actually doesn't initiate the snapshot on the tintri device. Its like it doesnt know its there.

That guide is for vSphere, not Hyper-V.

So the Veeam UI shows the fileshare provider is used to create the snapshot, but the Tintri UI doesn't show a snapshot present while the backup job is running? It might just be an issue with the Tintri UI, have you checked with their support? Also, I'm not very familiar with their UI, do they have a history or events list where you can check for past snapshot creation/removal, or other operations that might be happening during the backup?
