Feature Request: SAP Backint support

Post by cdesch » 2 people like this post

Hi,

i discussed many times with our SAP guys and they are not amused how to backup SAP instances with Veeam because we have to backup orcale and the guest OS in different manner, and the SAP operators has no integration in the SAP UI. So standard backup software vendors uses the BACKINT interface for SAP to gererate consistent backup for the whole application stack, and this gives the SAP operatores the possibility to manage the backup and restores itself with the integration in the SAP UI.

It would be very nice if you can deliver us that support and integration between Veeam and SAP and/or SAP based on HANA. I've heard SAP HANA will also use the BACKINT interface for SAP HANA based environments.

Thank you,
Chris

Hello,

we also need the BACKINT support, especially for our SAP HANA tDi Environment.
Currently our business critical applications cannot be backed up with veeam.
Is an integration and certification planned?
I need this Information for the further backup strategy.

Thank you,
Bernd

Hello ,

We use veeam 9 to backup/replicate all the sap landscape without any problem. ECC 6 with MSSql.

Better DB support - and BACKINT - would really be good. This is still the main reason we cannot use Veeam. We have so many MSSQL, Oracle and other DB's that Veeam alone is not able to back them up.

Hello,

is it possible to get a official answer from VEEAM, how the roadmap for SAP (Backint) integration, especially for SAP HANA looks like? Also important is the certification from SAP generally?!
I think SAP is one of the most important applications for a lot of companies, sadly at current VEEAM offers no acceptable solutions with certification from SAP.

Thank you...

Unfortunately, not, since we tend to talk about new product enhancements and capabalities when we're approaching release date (not sooner). Thanks.

Here is our situation

SAP HANA systems that are virtualized, but we are using scsi bus sharing which does not allow snapshots. Does Veeam have another mechanism that supports SAP HANA and would allow us to get around the snapshot limitation?
Shared VMDKs sit on Pure Storage

Will Veeam ever be able to support?

Well, if you put it this way, then sure - at some point, Veeam will support everything at all :D
But for now, we have to work through higher priority items with bigger demand first.
