Backup of SQL with application aware processing
I have an SQL instance running on Windows 2008 server.
It's heavy IO instance and using veeam backup and replication to back it up.
Is it safe to select "log truncation" in case the backup is just crash consistent?
I have selected "Try application processing, but ignore failures".
So in this scenario, is it safe to select "Process transaction logs with this job" or will it work?
If the SQL is highly transnational, what impact this can bring in during a restore?
Thanks,
Shahid

Re: Backup of SQL with application aware processing
Hi Shahid, logs processing is a part of application-aware image processing, so will not be performed if AAIP of the VM fails.

Just a confirmation,
a file consistent backup will also ignore log truncation?

What do you mean by "file consistent"?

Hi Foggy,
I may be wrong here, there are three levels of snapshot consistency rt?
1.App
2.File
3.Crash

Re: Backup of SQL with application aware processing
Please review backup consistency options available with Veeam B&R. Logs processing is performed only in case you perform application-aware processing.
