VIX will be disappear after the vSphere 6.0 release.

Post by reaperhammer »

Will Veeam support another non RPC guest processing mode for vSphere releases after 6.0?

Our vSphere IaaS solution we have uses VIX to backup all clients, if we loose this functionality it will be a pain. (its already a pain to maintain :D)

Sure, as there's a replacement API available.

Hi,

What is the replacement for VIX? I'm testing in place restores for windows with enterprise manager and vcloud director VM's and i'm having to roll back to vmtools 9.x in order for it to wrok. Is there something on the roadmap or already implemented?

Hi, it was already implemented in 9.5 Update 1, see KB2222 for more info. Thanks!

Thanks Anton,

I was a little confused when I was doing tests in the Job settings where it still said "using VIX". I can see now that it is using Guest Operations API.
