Veeam Agent questions

Post by enoch »

Hi Everyone,

Is it possible to make backup copies of Veeam Agent backup data?

If using Nutanix and installing Veeam Agent for Windows inside the VM, if I need to restore the whole VM, is the way to create new VM and connect "recovery media" and then restore?

Which things do I lose with Veeam Agents vs. Veeam Backup directly of VMware / Hyper-V?

Any news about if the price would be the same as for backing up "normal" Hypervisor like VMware and Hyper-V?

If you have VBR running and send backups created by the agents to the Veeam Backup Repository you can always use Backup Copy Job to make an additional copy.

If you need to do a bare metal recovery it is indeed possible by creating a new VM with the recovery media and then perform the restore via this.

In regards to the difference between Veeam Agent backup & VBR backup; if you use the server edition of the Agent it delivers the same possibilities as VBR meaning you'll have full application aware processing available.

Pricing is currently in discussion and will be communicated later on.

Great :-)

Just to know what to do if going the Nutanix way and still using Veeam - as long as Nutanix support isn't included in Veeam :D

You can always ask for Nutanix support in the corresponding thread: post206006.html#p206006

Let your voice be heard ;-) !

With the Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows 2.0 we will offer the option to do Instant Recovery to Hyper-V for now. Other platforms (VMware, KVM) won't have this option.

And yes SureBackup also won't be available.

Just so I understand, if I backup an Nutanix AHV VM with bare-metal backup, then it's possible to Instant Recover that VM on a Hyper-V server?

A windows machine backup can indeed be instant recovered into a Hyper-V server. Also explained in veeam-endpoint-backup-f33/veeam-agent-f ... 84-30.html
