Recovering failed site using Backup Copies

Post by davecla »

I'm sure I'm missing a simple concept here, so apologies in advance for the dumb question.....

I'm using the "backup copy" function to make a copy at a secondary site.
At the secondary site I'm running the Proxy and Repository.

In the case that the primary site unavailable, how do I use the backup copies I have?
Is the process to install the full "Backup and Replication" suite and then import the backup copies?

thanks
dave

Dave,

There are no stupid questions... :-)

Yes, that is indeed a perfect solution. Install a new B&R server and import the backup copies and you can start restoring as much as you like. Some of our customers have a "cold" empty B&R VM on the other side "standing by (and keeping it up-to-date)" in case of but depending on how fast you need to be able to restore in case of a total disaster and whether you have the time to install a new B&R server or not

Cheers

As a sidenote - should you ever need to restore the whole backup server from scratch you can use configuration backup/restore feature.

You can also use the extract.exe utility to restore even without installing a full Veeam B&R.
