Hello,
One of my backup jobs is set to "icremental" and "create synth. full backup" once a week. The renetion policy is set to keep 7 restore points. Today I saw a high amount of backup files within the folder. There is one .vbk (date 2016-07-14) plus 113 .vib files.
Does anyonoe know how...
- I can "merge" the files to ONE synth. full backup file, manually?
- to modify the job to just keep 6 restore points?
I already compared the settings to other jobs which are running fine in regards of the backup files to keep.
Tahnks a lot in advance for any good hints.
KR

Triggering synthetic full merge is not possible, as it is controlled by a backup job schedule. Do you see all these restore points present when clicking the restore wizard?

Re: Backup settings vs. amount of backup files kept
Good Morning,
Problem has been solved
The original job was set to run synth. full backup on Fridays. Due to the job chain and the data grow, this job ran after midnight (Saturday) and therefore the synth. full hasn't been created. I changed the setting to Saturday and last weekend the synth. full has been created and all former incremental backups have been deleted.
cheers,
Ralf

Re: Backup settings vs. amount of backup files kept
That's one of the reasons why we typically frown upon jobs' chaining. We recommend instead running jobs simultaneously and limiting number of concurrent tasks repository/proxy can handle. Thanks.
