best way forward with current Essentials license?

Post by pesos »

Hi all,

We have a 2-node hyper-v cluster (each node has 2 sockets).

Currently we have an Essentials Standard license.

For the most part this works well for us, as we put all the critical boxes that need to be backed up on host 1 and use the license to cover that host.

The second host mostly has boxes that have application-level redundancy with host 1 (Domain controllers, Exchange).

However it would be nice to be able to back up from both hosts now and then for various reasons.

What is the least expensive option to allow us to back up from host 2? Buy a second essentials license and set up a second veeam server?

John,

Best would be to contact your local Veeam rep or System Engineer (or Veeam partner) to find out this information...

Cheers

Certainly plan to, but there are lots of knowledgeable folks here who have a bit less reason to push us towards more expensive solutions so curious to hear other ideas =)

I seriously doubt that you can use two Essentials offerings within the same environment. The least expensive option seems to be updating current license to needed number of sockets (four it appears to be).

However, here you'll find mostly technical crowd having only sketchy understanding of licensing area. Thus, the recommendation to contact people with right knowledge - your sales rep.

Thanks.
