Hyper-V, Virtual Veeam server and tape library

Post by mdwasim »

Hello guys,

Need your guidance in one scenario.
I have a Hyper-V cluster and all services are virtualized.
The Veeam backup and rep server is also going to be a virtual server running in same hyper-v cluster.
Now, we want to use the tape library with veeam.
Tape library can be connected through FC.
Is it supported to pass-through FC HBA to Veeam backup server and connected to library?
If there is any other way to use FC tape library please do suggest.
we don't have a physical server and owner is not comfortable in using a workstation or desktop machine as tape server.

thank for your time.

Veeam's support for FC pass-through for tape would only be restricted by any Microsoft support statements on the topic. However, I don't see any reason to bother with pass-through, since you can just specify the physical Hyper-V host as the tape server when adding the tape library in the Veeam console.
