Uncheck per-VM-backup-chains with backups in repo

Post by mdiver »

We are using a single scale-out-repo with two extents in speedy mode.
Currently the repo is set to per-VM-backup-chains and we have ~90 points in an forever incremental chain already there.
BTW: The merge is really turbo fast as VBK is on R10 while VIBs sitting on R5. :D

We would like to switch back to one single chain.

Would that harm the current single-VM-chains?
Will they still be recoverable?

I assume an active full will (have to?) be forced to produce the first combined point.

Thanks and regards,
Mike

Hello Mike,
You are correct, you need to start new chain running a full backup to apply the new repository rule.
Older backups will still be recoverable.

Also, you can use this script to perform required operations in automatic fashion. Thanks.
