Hot-Add backup mode concern after upgrading to VBR 9.5 ?

Post by albertwt »

Hi all,

Before upgrading my Veeam Backup from v9.0U1 into 9.5, as per this release notes: https://www.veeam.com/pdf/release_notes ... tes_en.pdf page 13

May I know what does this means by “Virtual backup proxy server cannot be used to backup, replicate or copy itself in virtual appliance (hot add) mode. Jobs configured to do this will automatically failover to Network processing mode. CBT will be disabled for proxy VM” ?

I have 3x backup proxy running windows VM, all of my Veeam Backup job is running Hot-Add, so does the problem described above impacting all of my backup job after I updated to Veeam 9.5 ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi. Perhaps you simply did not read the Release Notes document until 9.5, as this note was there for all previous versions too. In other words, hot add in 9.5 will continue working in the exact same manner as it did in your environment with 9.0, no changes. Thanks!

Ah I see,

So it is the case for backing up the proxy VM itself not the production VMs that is backed up using Hot-Add :?:
