Endpoint installed on Remote Desktop Server

Post by Craigondrums »

Hi,

We've a bunch of physical servers left which need backing up, so I've installed the Veeam Enpoint Backup Free on a physical Windows Server running Remote Desktop Services (pointing to our Veeam BR repository). I'm currently testing and when standard users logon (using loopback group policy), I've found they can run a backup of the system using the system tray icon. No other features are available. How can I secure this without restricting the icon tray completely i.e. setting to hide via GPO?

Thanks
Craig :)

Hi Craig,

We received several reports that non admin account can disable the scheduled backup jobs or change the application settings and this going to be blocked in upcoming version. Frankly speaking, only admin account will be able to change the settings for your agent.

For now, the only way is to hide the icon tray manually or via scripting.

Hi Dima,

Thanks for the info. Is there a planned release date for the upcoming version?

Craig,

Not yet but we are aiming at releasing a public beta very soon! These forums will certainly have that information the moment it is there :-)
