Veeam - Application-Aware Processing

Post by BigMajk »

I have 6 VM /Vshpere/ - 2 Domain Controller 2008R2, 1 XP, 2x Opensuse linux, 1x Suse enterprise,
I have one job veeam reverse incremental backup to all VMs, and I checked Application-Aware Processing then I exclude XP from Application-Aware Processing,

1. Question Must I exclude 3 linux machines also ? or Veeam knows there are linux and Application-Aware Processing are not concern /There are only postgresql database/.
2. Without Application-Aware Processing backup was made about 35 minutes and with Application-Aware Processing enabled backup 1hours is it normal ?

Thanks in advance.

1. No need to exclude them specifically, Veeam B&R will automatically use VMware Tools Quiescence in case AAIP is not available.
2. AAIP itself and checking whether it is available takes time, however, you can ask support to verify if everything is ok, if you feel it should complete faster.

Ok .Two more question.
1. If VMs with Domain Controller /2008r2/ are shut down. Does Application-Aware Processing proceed ? / reverse incremental backup / ?
2. If not does backup of these VMs will proceed at all ? maybe in ( "normal mode" as if Application-Aware Processing was not check) ?

AAIP is not possible if the VM is turned off. The VM will be backed up without VSS.
