4K/UHD Monitors

Post by J1mbo »

Just testing the new O365 tool - a nice idea, especially for free :)

But just like B&R, the client has issues on a 4K screen. Given it's new, this is surprising.

Actually, it should not be "just like B&R" (that has its UI completely messed up on high DPI), because unlike B&R this product was written on the modern UI framework that does support high DPI out of the box.

Sure, just like in every other part of the product, there could be bugs in UI too - minor issues on certain specific scale levels our QC did not test, and no beta users have spotted... after all, it is v1. Just throw them our way via screenshots, and we will address!

Thanks, it's quite a simple UI so far so the issues are pretty easy to spot:
  • System menu (top left) appears somewhere random (nowhere near the mouse) on both backup and explorer
  • Add and Edit Org and Backup Wizards - Windows title text too large
  • New Backup Wizard - can't see the box below retry failed job
  • Explorer - splash screen is tiny
  • Explorer Add Store and Restore Wizards - title text too big
  • Restore to followig folder - can't see all of box or (associated controls if there are any)
Hope that helps.

Any change that you can take some screenshots and PM me those? (Or to Anton, also good :-))

Would be appreciated
Thanks

No worries, QC folks were able to emulate 4K monitor in VMware Workstation and saw the new DPI options appear in Windows (200% and 250%). And as soon as we enabled those, we saw the issues. Funny thing, but it all comes down to a problem with only 2 UI controls at these DPI settings, however one of those controls is used pretty much everywhere... you've probably guessed it already, title text. Thus your long list ;)
