Hi Daniel,
As stated by Gostev right above your post, Veeam v8u3 should work fine with ESX v6u2.
Thanks!

[MERGED] : Esxi 6.0 Update 2

Post by Teakers »

Hello,

we have currently installed Veeam 9 Build 9.0.0.902.

Is is supported with the esxi 6.0 Update 2?

Is it recommended to install Veeam 9 Update 1 for that?

Thank you in advance.

Can I consider this as a kind of official support statement? We will soon be upgrading to ESXv6 (running V8U3) and I am looking into which Update of esx to implement. From a compliancy point of view internally I am only allowed to upgrade to "supported" versions. I cannot upgrade to Veeam V9 right now but have too upgrade to vsphere6 soon.

thanks, Peter

Yes, v8 U3 officially supports vSphere 6 - and I would not want you to be implementing anything earlier than ESXi 6 Update 2 anyway! Thanks.

[MERGED] vSphere 6 Which Version Is OK?

Post by bazzajok »

Hi,

We are soon to start a server upgrade. Our hosts are still operating on vSphere 5.5 and I'd like to move to 6 but I've read a whole lot of horror stories on here!

I'd just like to know what the best stable version is to use alongside Veeam Backups.

Thanks

Hi,

Starting from v8 U2 Veeam fully supports vSphere 6. Also people report that v9 works fine with any ESXi 6 version.

Thanks

Thanks for your reply.

I'm more concerned with the various CBT related issues and random reboots of VMs during the veeam backups.

Can anyone report on which version of vSphere is currently playing nicely?

Thanks

[MERGED] Is vSphere 6 Ready For Production?

Post by wa15 »

Seeing all these reports different bugs, particularly CBT bugs, has me hesitant on upgrading to vSphere 6 from 5.5.

Those that are running vSphere 6 along with Veeam, what has your experience been? Has it been a pain compared to the 5.x days? Veeam's general stance on 6 appears to be "not so excited" so I want to see what everyone's thoughts are.

[MERGED] vSphere 6 / Veeam versions best stability?

Post by pkelly_sts »

We purposely held off deploying v6 given the amount of initial issues there were with it within itself, but later due to the back & forth issues that kept cropping up & Veeam had to get VMware to fix etc.

So, we're now at the point where things have been looking far more stable so we're ready to upgrade (yes, we're happy that reliable backups are more important to us than running the latest & greatest vSphere platform! :-) ) but I wanted to first check what is the most stable v6 version that a Veeam customer should consider deploying?

We're currently still on 5.5 but will be deploying a couple of new small sites which we'll also be covering with Veeam (so we have to start with vCenter 6 first anyway).

Any major gotchas (related to Veeam) that are still lurking about or are was "safe" to now grab the latest version & get on with it?

[MERGED] vSphere 6 issues resolved?

Post by Steve_za »

Hi
I've been holding off installing vSphere 6 due to all the issues that have been reported with CBT etc when backing up with Veeam.
Have all these issues been resolved and is it now safe to install the latest vSphere 6u2 ?
I am running Veeam 9 (version says .0.0.1491)

Thanks

[MERGED] vSphere problems thread??

Post by tommls »

There was a thread here, I can not find it again, which talked about problems with the various 6.0 updates.
We have 6.0 U2 with no additional patches running well on our HP vSphere hosts and Veeam 9.0 u2 so I'm not inclined to change things a lot. :)
Could someone who knows where is this thread please point me to it??
I want to read up on the vSphere updates issues and also just wait for 6.0 U3 which should cumulatively put in all the patches etc. since U2, and hopefully not break more things. :)
Thank you, Tom

[MERGED] Recommendation, Vsphere 5.5 or 6?

Post by cookiejc »

Hi, i'm just looking for some general advice / recommendation here.

I am faced with the choice of upgrading several of our environments from Vsphere 5.1 to either 5.5 or 6. I previously discounted 6 as I saw a lot of reports of issues and bugs both general and with Veeam. Does anyone have an up to date view on this? Is 5.5 the safer way to go or have VMware now caught up and made 6 stable?

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Thanks

No Problems here with 6.0 U2, but why not wait for Update1 for vSphere 6.5?
