Invalid credentials for a Windows 2000 Server

Post by marius roma »

I need to backup two Windows 2000 server VMs running an old SQL version.
When I confngure guest Processing I specify the credentials of an AD domain administrator, but when I try to test credentials I get a message saying that "Credentials are invalid".
Before creating the new job I used another job for the same VMs that runs with the same credentials without reporting any error.
My question is: can it be a false problem (due to the age of the OS) or should I suspect that guest processing is not performed?

Application-aware processing is available for Microsoft Windows 2003 SP1 and later. Given OS is not supported for guest processing. Thanks.

Many thanks for the useful information.
So, what is expected to happen to the SQL DB during the backup?

Without AAIP in place it will be in a crash-consistent state. However, it is not as bad as it sounds, since SQL can cope with such situations quite well. Thanks.

Let me ask for an additional clarification: can Veeam backup damage in any way the SQL DB in the source VM?
If so, how can we mitigate the problem?

Veeam cannot damage anything in the source VM.

In the meantime, the DB state captured in backup file will be in crash-consistent state similar as it would be after a system failure or power outage. Can SQL handle such situations well? Yes, it copes with them quite good in overwhelming majority of cases.

Thanks.
