where is the .lic file

Post by froydo »

Hi,

I have a very old veeam 8 Backup and Replication that was installed by someone else. I'm trying to find the .lic file. Can anyone help suggest where it should be ? I tried looking in the C:Program Files\Veeam\Backup and Replication\ and its subfolders but I don't see it anywhere. Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to the community!
Could you specify why you need the license file?
You can review its information in the backup console.
Thanks!

Hi Shestakov,

Because my boss wants me to find it ;)
We want to make sure we are using the right license for the right environment, and that information is in the .lic file. We have several environments and locations over here. Just looking at the backup console won't tell us everything. We've already done that. Could someone please point me in the right direction ?

AFAIK license key is not stored as a file on the backup server, so try to log in to your user profile at veeam.com and download it from there. We have a dedicated page for all your previously generated license keys. Hope it helps!

Thanks Vitaly,

That gave me an idea to search the C:/Users folder since it was installed by a previous admin who is longer with us. I found 2 .lic files which is a bit confusing, but no worries , I can figure out from here already which is the right one. Thanks again . That helped. :_

You can simple open those files with notepad and check which one is still valid and which one has expired already. Thanks.
